[15.09] Student Presentations of the Astronomy Picture of the Day

W.A. Morgan, Jr. (Dickinson College)

The Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD, http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/astropix.html) can be a useful resource for introductory astronomy students. By having the students individually present a picture and topic of their choosing, I find that they can learn about astronomy concepts not necessarily covered by the professor. I discuss this use of the APOD as well as other ways I have used the APOD at Dickinson College.
