[14.05] Water Masers around IK Tau

M. W. Hodges (Owens Valley Radio Observatory), K. B. Marvel (American Astronomical Society), M. J. Claussen (NRAO)

We have investigated the circumstellar shell around the evolved star IK Tau by using the kinematic distribution of water vapor masers. Measurements were made using the VLA in the A configuration in Oct 1992, Dec 1992, and Jan 1993. Map cubes 64 by 64 pixels by 128 frequency channels were created using the NRAO AIPS package. Each channel was fit with Gaussian components meeting the criteria of >6 times the RMS noise in the channel map and within 3 times the error in position measurement. Over 200 emission regions were found for each epoch. Geometric and kinematic fits were made to the distribution of the masing regions.
