[57.07] WIYN Open Cluster Study: The Metallicity of NGC 2451 A and B

S J. Margheim (Indiana U.), J. R. King (UNLV), C. P. Deliyannis (Indiana U.), I. Platais (Yale U.)

We have analyzed high-S/N (200/pixel) high resolution (R ~ 20,000 = 2.5 pixels) spectra of proper-motion-selected main-sequence members belonging to the young (100 Myr) open clusters NGC 2451 A and B, taken at the WIYN 3.5m telescope with the Hydra multi-object spectrograph. We present an improved metallicity determination for cluster A based on an increased sample size of 50 members, and our first determination of cluster B's metallicity based on a sample of 40 members. Although both clusters are roughly coeval, they do not appear to share the same metallicity. Implications for this difference are discussed.
