[7.12] Properties of high-z galaxies with NGST

M. Stiavelli (STScI), N. Panagia (STScI and ESA), C. Scarlata (STScI), T. Treu (Caltech)

We review the capabilities of the Next Generation Space Telescope for studying the properties of high redshift galaxies. We focus on both emission and absorption line diagnostics, and their properties and limitations. We consider measurements of dynamical masses, gaseous and stellar metallicities, star formation rates, dust content and physical properties of the gaseous medium.
