[44.03] X-ray Emission from Stellar Clusters near the Galactic Center

C.J. Law (Harvard-Smithsonian CfA/Northwetsern University), F. Yusef-Zadeh (Northwestern University)

Existing Chandra observations of the Galactic center have been used to determine X-ray properties of known stellar clusters (e.g. the Quintuplet, Sgr A East, the IRS 16 and the Arches cluster), near-IR cluster candidates and HII regions associated with massive star forming regions. Preliminary results indicate more than half of the known and candidate stellar clusters in the inner 2o\times0.8o of the Galactic center region appear to have X-ray counterparts. The X-ray and radio continuum properties of these known clusters and cluster candiates will be described. This research is supported by a NASA grant to the Chandra X-ray Center and Northwestern University.
