[7.06] A multi-color study of RR Lyrae variables in the globular cluster NGC 5272 (M3)

We have performed a detailed study of the pulsational and evolutionary characteristics of a large sample of RR Lyrae stars in the globular cluster NGC 5272 (M3) using highly accurate BVI data taken on three separate epochs. A Fourier decomposition analysis has been done for both RRab and RRc variables. The occurrence and characteristics of the Blazhko effect have been analyzed in particular detail. M3 seems to contain a large number of Blazhko stars, and also a number of overluminous RR Lyrae stars that may have evolved off the ZAHB.
