[78.02] Weak Lensing Results from the Deep Lens Survey

A.C. Becker (Bell Labs, Lucent Technologies), Deep Lens Survey Collaboration

Preliminary weak lensing results from 0.7 x 0.7 degree subfields of the Deep Lens Survey (DLS) are presented, with an emphasis on decomposing the measured distortion fields in terms of orthogonal gradient-free and curl-free components. To first order, cosmological shear should contribute to only the curl-free mode, allowing us to increase the signal to noise of our shear measurement, as well as to estimate the level of systematic errors in the data through the curl mode. BVRz' color redshift information of the population of source galaxies used to trace the cosmological shear allows us to constrain the redshift evolution of the matter power spectrum. The final DLS catalog is expected to comprise several 3x3 grids of subfields, allowing us to measure the shear signal out to angular scales of 3 degrees, and out to a redshift of z=1.5 along the line of sight.
