[124.02] WOCS Photometric Monitoring of Open Clusters: new variables in NGC 6791 & NGC 188

Old galactic clusters (age ~ Gyrs) are valuable representatives of the early disk population. In addition to being relatively richer and denser than their younger counterparts, they provide an excellent environment for the study of variability among stars of known age and distance. We present the new variable stars that emerged from our monitoring campaign of two rich, old galactic clusters, NGC 6791 and NGC 188. The data were obtained with the Mini Mosaic CCD on the 3.5m WIYN telescope (Kitt Peak, AZ), during the time interval of Fall 2000 - Summer 2002. A combination of several software packages that were used for the data reduction (DAOPhot, ISIS, and AstroVar) are discussed, in addition to the CMDs of the clusters and a sample of lightcurves of the new variables.
