[18.06] A Medium-Resolution Spectrograph for the CHARA Optical/IR Interferometer

T. C. Hillwig, W. G. Bagnuolo (Georgia State Univ.), R. L. Riddle (Iowa State Univ.)

We present the design for a novel medium-resolution spectrograph for the Georgia State University Center for High Angular Resolution (CHARA) optical/IR interferometer on Mt. Wilson. The spectrograph is a modified Ebert-Newtonian based on the design used for the Georgia State Multi-Telescope Telescope. The spectrograph will be fiber-fed and will produce coherent, spatially resolved spectra.

The design for the spectrograph will be presented as well as the current status of the project. Possible science projects for this instrument will also be discussed.
