[22.30] Swift Burst Alert Telescope Data Products and Software

C. B. Markwardt (U. Maryland and GSFC), Swift/BAT Team

The Burst Alert Telescope (BAT) on the Swift gamma-ray burst (GRB) mission serves as the GRB trigger for Swift as well as a sensitive imaging telescope for the energy range of 15-150 keV. Gamma ray burst data products include rapid discovery messages delivered via the GCN, and event-by-event data from which light curves and spectra of the burst are generated. During nominal operating periods, the instrument provides accumulated survey histograms with 5-minute time sampling and appropriate energy resolution. Image processing tools produce a sky image covering the ~1.5 sr field of view, and are used to detect new sources and measure the fluxes of known sources. In addition, the instrument accumulates high time resolution light curves of the brightest sources in the BAT field of view in multiple energy bands, which are merged into a source light curve database on the ground.
