[27.09] The Chemical Compositions of Two Globular Cluster Red Giants.

M.D. Wimmer, C.A. Pilachowski (Indiana University)

An analysis of the chemical compositions of two globular cluster giants is presented. The spectra of the stars M71 1-113 and M13 L353 were taken with the High Resolution Spectrograph on the Hobby-Eberly Telescope using Public Access time available through the NOAO. The spectra cover the wavelength range of 6000 to 7750 angstroms with a spectral resolving power of about 30,000. The stars were identified from low resolution spectra as possibly showing lithium features, and the presence of lithium was confirmed in one of the spectra. The abundances of more than fifteen elements in each giant were determined using detailed analysis techniques.
