In the original 100 ksec Chandra observation of M101, we identified P98 as a highly variable, soft ULX. Since then, we have obtained HST/ACS observations, which reveal a possible optical counterpart. We have also obtained new Chandra data, which show this source in a different spectral state. Based on these data, we consider the nature of the compact object, the nature of the mass donor, and the evolutionary status of this binary system.
