[74.12] Cooling mechanisms on bare strange stars.

Y. K. Chan, K. S. Cheng (Dept. of Physics, The University of Hong Kong)

We review cooling mechanisms of strange star and the general framework of obtaining cooling evolution of strange. Inside our strange star model, we will consider the effect of color-superconductivity to the thermal evolution of strange stars. We assumed that only the core will undergo Color-Flavor-Locking (CFL), while the surface will remain 2SC state so that electron will exist on the strange star surface. Inside our study on light curve, we introduce a new mechanism called the quark-quark bremsstrahlung on star surfac e. This bremsstrahlung emittance is 10-5 times weaker than which of the blackbody radiation . The luminosity of emitted bresstrahlung radiation is shielded by electrons on the strange star's surface so that the luminosity depends on the opacity of electron gas. The opacity is related to the state of quark matter on strange star surface. Hence, the cooling behaviour is equation-of-state dependent so that we suggest those free parameters contain in the equation-of-state(EOS) of strange quark matter can be estimated by fitting an observed cooling profile to our model. ~
