[41.32] C2DPHOT: The Source Extraction Tool For The C2D Legacy Project

P. Harvey, L. Cieza, W. Spiesman (Univ. of Texas), c2d Team

We discuss the source extraction software being used for the Spitzer Legacy Project, ``From Molecular Cores to Planet Forming Disks'' (c2d), using both results from simulations and results on early Spitzer data to demonstrate its performance. This tool is based on the ``DOPHOT'' source extraction package developed by Schecter, Mateo, and Saha. We have added a number of features to the basic dophot package to enhance its performance and applicability to Spitzer IRAC and MIPS imaging data. These features include such things as: the ability to use the measured point spread functions to distinguish point sources from extended objects; the ability to find sources in high signal-to-noise multi-frame mosaics but extract photometry based on the total of the individual raw image frames that have narrower point spread functions; the capability to find radiation hits that pass through the SSC's ``mopex'' filtering modules, as well as several other features specific to Spitzer data products. This work has been supported by NASA through Contract Number 1224608 issued by JPL under NASA contract 1407.
