[4.06] Numerical Investigation of Perturbation Effects on Trajectories to Halo Orbits

Recent theoretical and numerical advances in trajectory design have come from the application of dynamical systems theory. The stable and unstable invariant manifold tubes associated to libration point orbits can be used to construct new spacecraft trajectories. This paper shows possible trajectories to libration point orbits, especially halo orbits, in the Sun-Venus and the Sun-Mars system. These trajectories are located on a stable manifold associated to halo orbits. They have been computed numerically in the CRTBP as well as have been taken into account a simple dynamical model of solar system, i.e. the planetary theory VSOP82, that includes the position of the planets.
