We present the first results of modeling extremely hot atmospheres (2 x 10(5) to 10(7) K) of white dwarfs undergoing hydrogen burning in a shell, observed with Chandra and XMM-Newton. A very bright supersoft X-ray source, N V4743 Sgr, is used as a ``template" to start this project. We find an effective temperature around 7x10(5) K and very depleted carbon abundance, as expected after the CNO cycle
