R. McCray, K. Heng, E. Michael (U. Colorado), P. Challis (Center for Astrophysics), SAINTS Collaboration

We report new observations of the newborn supernova remnant SNR1987A with the Space Telescope Imaging Spectrometer showing rapid evolution of: (1) the mass flux and velocity of supernova debris crossing the reverse shock; (2) the spectra of the hot spots on the circumstellar ring; and (3) the radioactive source at the center of the supernova debris.
