[101.02] The Evolution of SNR 1987A as Seen with Chandra

J. Racusin, S. Park, D. Burrows, G. Garmire (Pennsylvania State University), R. McCray (University of Colorado), S. Zhekov (SRI, Bulgaria)

Continued monitoring of SN/SNR 1987A has now resulted in 11 observations over the last 5 years using the Chandra X-ray Observatory. We present the newest non-dispersed observations and compare their spectral and photometric properties to the prior observations. We have carried out this analysis utilizing both the CXC and the Penn State methods for the CTI correction, and compare the results. We also present a direct measurement of the expansion rate of the SNR as it has progressed throughout the monitoring campaign.
