[18.04] Preliminary Periodicity and Light Curve Analyses of Interacting Binaries: AR Bootis, GSC 2336 281, ST Trianguli, and GSC 1343 2414

We present light curve and periodicity analyses of four interacting binaries. The observations were taken at the Southeastern Association for Research in Astronomy (SARA) Observatory on Kitt Peak. Four solar type near contact and contact binaries, ST Tri, GSC 2336 281, GSC 1343 2414, and AR Bootis were observed. Our CCD observations were taken between 20-27 December 2003, by RGS, DRF, and NCH and on 6, 10 May and 8 June 2004 (AR Boo) in remote mode by RGS, TSL and NCH with the 0.9-m reflector and AP7 CCD. Standard UBVRcIc filters filters were used. Preliminary information on ST Tri, and GSC 2336 281, GSC 1343 2414 were presented in a previous poster session #5.09 at AAS meeting 204.

ST Tri (GSC 2336 0305,\alpha(2000)=02h 41m 32.8s, \delta(2000)=+35\arcdeg 43' 31'') is a near-contact binary. Three mean epochs of minimum light were computed: HJD Min II = 2452995.8289(32), HJD Min I = 2452999.6577(9) and HJD Min I = 2453000.8476(27). The ephemeris, J.D. Hel Min I = 2451550.2866 (40) + 0.47905142(32)E was calcuated.

GSC 2336 281 [\alpha(2000)=02h 41m 41.0s, \delta(2000)=+35\arcdeg 42' 55''] is a W UMa contact binary recently discovered by Zejda (IBVS 5287, 2002). Four mean epochs of minimum light were computed: HJD Min II = 2452995.7337(3), 2452998.8483(16) and HJD Min I = 2452996.6688(6), 2452998.6665(55). The ephemeris, J.D. Hel Min I = 2452327.4287(19)d + 0.5691779(22) E was calcuated.

GSC 1343 2414 [\alpha(2000)=06h 50m 55.8s, \delta(2000)=+22\arcdeg 29' 21''] is a near-contact binary newly discovered by Gomez-Forrellad, et al. (IBVS 5277, 2002). Two mean epochs of minimum light were computed: HJD Min II = 2452995.9264(5), and HJD Min I = 2452999.0656(60). The ephemeris, J.D. Hel Min I = 2452327.4287(19) d + 0.5691779(22) E was determined.

AR Boo (GSC 1999 011, \alpha(2000)=13h 48m 10.40s, \delta(2000)=+24\arcdeg 55' 26.6'') was discovered by Kurochkin (Astron. Tsirk 205, 1959). It is a near or very shallow contact binary with eclipse depths of 0.8 and 0.6 mags in V. About 130 observations in each of the BVRI pass bands were taken. Three mean epochs of minimum light were computed: JD Min I = 2453131.8486(4), 2453135.8149(10), and JD Min II = 2453164.8217(4). The periodicity study shows a sudden period change occurred at about JD 2444400.
