[123.06] Precise Measurement of the Matter Power Spectrum Amplitude and the Background Radiation Amplitude

T. Jena, M.L. Norman, D. Tytler, N. Suzuki (UCSD)

We use state of the art Lyman-\alpha forest simulations to investigate how properties of the forest, such as the mean flux, the b-parameter distribution and the flux power depend on cosmological and astrophysical parameters, specifically the matter power amplitude \sigma8, the background UV radiation amplitude and the helium reheating rate. We present our results of scaling relationships between these parameters and use them to determine the best fit values of the cosmological parameters.
