[61.03] Starburst Galaxies In The COSMOS Survey

C. T. Liu (CUNY/CSI), COSMOS Collaboration

We present a preliminary analysis of blue starburst galaxies in the HST Cosmic Evolution Survey. These starbursts were identified with a multifilter color-redshift method, and number some 4097 objects with U < 24 in the redshift range 0 < z < 4. These data constrain the faint-end slope of the blue field galaxy luminosity function to MV ~-12 at low redshifts, and provide HST spatial resolution for a large, complete sample of starburst galaxies with z > 3.

This work is supported by NASA under grant #HST-GO-10462.39 to the City University of New York, College of Staten Island.
