B. Penprase (Pomona College)
We provide an overview of the telescopes and instruments at Pomona College and the ongoing research programs at our observatories. Pomona College operates a 1-meter telescope in the nearby San Gabriel Mountains at the Table Mountain Facilty in collaboration with the other Claremont College, and JPL. Our telescope is instrumented with an optical CCD/Polarimeter, and an infrared camera. On campus we operate the Brackett Observatory, which offers two 14" robotic Paramount telescopes with CCD cameras and a spectrograph. Observing projects including monitoring of galactic star clusters, active galaxies and planetary occultations are reviewed, as well as our experience using remote observing with undergraduates in both classroom projects and research.
