[148.04] Spatial Two Point Correlation Function of X-ray Selected AGNs

Large optical surveys have long been the dominant technique in studying the large scale structure traced by galaxies and active galaxies. It has recently been discovered that a large fraction of X-ray selected AGN found in the Chandra and XMM-Newton deep surveys show little optical activity and should be missed by optical surveys. These X-ray selected sources are shown to account for > 90% of the observed 2-10 keV X-ray background. It has also been shown that the X-ray selected AGNs tend to have different redshift distribution and evolution trend than the optically selected AGNs. It is therefore natural to ask how the X-ray selected AGN trace the large scale structure and how it differs from that of the optically selected AGNs. We present our clustering analysis of a wide angle Chandra survey of the Lockman Hole Northwest region. The survey covers 0.4 deg2 and reaches below the "knee" of the LogN-LogS. We have found 525 sources and obtained redshifts for ~1/2 of them. Two point correlation function in redshift space is obtained. We compare our results with that from the optical surveys and discuss the implication of AGN evolution. This research is made possible by support from NASA and NSF.
