[40.02] Title: The Supernova Legacy Survey (SNLS) -- one year of data

D. A. Howell (University of Toronto), Supernova Legacy Survey Collaboration

We present the first year data from the Supernova Legacy Survey (SNLS), a five year project to discover and obtain well-measured lightcurves for 700 SNe Ia at 0.3 < z < 0.9 to determine the equation of state of Dark Energy, w=P/\rho. Four one degree fields are imaged over the course of the year as part of the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope Legacy Survey (CFHTLS). Fields are imaged every 3-4 days in dark or gray time in g', r', i', z' filters. SN Types and redshifts are determined from follow-up spectroscopy using Keck, Gemini, and the VLT.
