A.E. Schweitzer (Little Thompson Observatory), T.T. Melsheimer (LTO and Meridian Controls)
The Little Thompson Observatory is a community-built E/PO observatory and is the second member of the Telescopes in Education (TIE) project. The observatory is located on the grounds of Berthoud High School in northern Colorado. 2004 was an exciting year at the LTO!
- We celebrated our 5-year anniversary, and began an expansion to the warm room to keep pace with the growing number of visitors, especially to our popular Public Nights.
- We are championing the formation of a Colorado Project ASTRO site, in conjunction with numerous astronomy groups in Colorado.
- Head's up! A baseball-sized meteorite landed in Berthoud, bringing along great opportunities for more education and public outreach.
