We review the properties of 200 X-ray sources detected in the 1hr XMM-Newton/Chandra deep survey field. We study the group properties of X-ray source populations (luminosity and X-ray color distributions) and spectral and temporal properties of the individual bright sources. Combining the results of X-ray analysis with data at other wavelengths (optical, IR and radio), we identify a significant fraction of sources as various types of AGN, normal galaxies, clusters of galaxies and Galactic foreground objects. Finally, we compare our results to the results of other deep field surveys and interpret them in the framework of the models of source populations contributing to the X-ray background.

This work was supported in part by NASA grant NAG5-12390 and Chandra X-ray Center grant G01-2098A.
