We present results from the Chandra High Energy Transmission Grating Spectrometer observation of the young supernova remnant Cas A. High resolution X-ray spectra from distinct features/regions reveal dominant emission lines from H- and He-like silicon and sulfur, and weaker lines from magnesium, argon and calcium. We find unambiguous Doppler shifts in these lines of up to 3500 km/s generally consistant with previous studies. We present results from plasma diagnostics of individual lines and discuss plasma conditions as a function of position throughout the remnant.
