[52.01] Astronomy Education and Public Outreach: A National Context

S.E. Deustua (AAS)

NASA and NSF have different approaches to science education – one of the review criteria for NSF's science proposals addresses the broader impacts of the proposed activity, whereas NASA has embedded education programs in its missions, but also allows for separate EPO proposals that are linked to a parent science grant. Although the details of the criteria differ by agency, they were developed within a common, national context, namely increasing and improving science literacy at all levels. I will provide an overview to this session.
