We present synthetic spectra of the Type Ib supernova 1999dn. Using the generalized, non-local thermodynamic equilibrium (NLTE), stellar atmospheres code PHOENIX, we fit a model spectrum to a spectrum obtained on September 10 of SN 1999dn, 10 days after maximum brightness in the R-band. We have very promising results from our initial exploration of the parameter space, and we expect to improve subsequent fits by varying the amount of nickel mixing and the composition structures, thereby learning more about the nature of SNe Ib.
