The design and construction of the shelter for an astronomical telescope can severely degrade the image production resulting in loss of usefulness of the telescope and instruments. This paper discusses building induced vibrations and thermal image degradations along with operational and maintenance considerations. A basic outline of desirable features is presented. Many examples of what not to do are cited.
