[83.04] The COSMOS High-Redshift AGN Population

A.M. Koekemoer (STScI), COSMOS Team

I will present new results on the nature of the high-redshift AGN population drawn from the 2 square degree COSMOS HST/ACS survey, combined with multi-wavelength XMM coverage. The large area of the survey enables good statistics to be obtained on the rare high-luminosity end of the AGN luminosity function, while the sensitive detection limits from the X-ray and ACS data enable equally good constraints to be obtained on the faint end of the AGN luminosity function to high redshift. The results are used to examine the evolution of the AGN luminosity function from redshift 1-2 up to redshift 6 or above, based on the properties of optically undetected X-ray sources.
