[83.03] Radio Sources in the COSMOS Field

E. Schinnerer, V. Smolcic (MPIA), C.L. Carilli (NRAO), N.Z. Scoville (Caltech), VLA-COSMOS Team, COSMOS Collaboration

We present first results from the VLA-COSMOS survey -- a state-of-the-art (1.5'' resolution) deep (1\sigma ~ 10.5\mum) wide-field imaging VLA survey at 1.4 GHz of the entire COSMOS 2 deg2 deep field (total: 23 VLA pointings). Besides the large areal coverage which avoids effects of cosmic variance, the available wavelength coverage of the COSMOS field from the X-ray to the millimeter regime is ideal to characterize the faint radio population. Thus we will be able to study amongst other things, the dust-obscured star formation history as a function of environment as well as the the evolution of low luminosity radio AGN to high z.
