[157.01] The MUSYC Census of Protogalaxies at z=3

E. Gawiser (Yale University), MUSYC Collaboration

The Multiwavelength Survey by Yale-Chile (MUSYC) consists of deep UBVRIzJHK+NB5000 coverage of 1.2 square degrees comprised of four fields. Satellite coverage includes Spitzer, HST-ACS, GALEX, XMM and Chandra. Multi-object spectroscopy has been obtained with Magellan+IMACS, VLT+VIMOS, and Gemini+GNIRS. MUSYC has used these data to investigate Lyman break galaxies, Lyman alpha emitters, Distant red galaxies, Damped Lyman alpha absorption systems, and AGN in the same volume of the universe in order to separate physical properties from selection effects. We will present correlation functions and dark matter halo masses for each population along with the total cosmic star formation rate and stellar mass densities at z=3. A public data release of images and catalogs is available at www.astro.yale.edu/MUSYC.

We gratefully acknowledge support from Fundacion Andes, FONDAP Center of Astrophysics, Sigma Xi, PSC-CUNY and the Yale Perspectives in Science program. E.G. acknowledges the support of an NSF Astronomy & Astrophysics Postdoctoral Fellowship (AAPF).
