[71.05] WIYN Open Cluster Study: Precision UBV CCD Photometry of Open Cluster NGC 2420

We present refined basic parameters of the canonical metal-poor open cluster NGC 2420. Observations were made using the S2KB CCD during November 2004 at the WIYN 0.9m telescope. Photometry was performed using DAOPHOT, allowing for spatially-dependent point-spread-functions and aperture corrections. Using color-color and color-magnitude diagrams, we determine the cluster's reddening, metallicity, distance, and age. We compare these results with those for another canonical metal-poor open cluster, NGC 2506 (see Van Stckum et al poster). This work falls under the auspices of the WIYN Open Cluster Study (WOCS), a collaboration between Indiana University, Yale University, the University of Wisconsin, and the National Optical Astronomical Observatory (NOAO). This work is supported by the National Science Foundation under Grants AST-1452975 (Indiana REU) and AST-0206202 (to CPD).
