[74.14] Structure of the NGC 1333 IRAS 4A Southwestern SiO Outflow

M. Choi (Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute)

The highly-collimated outflow driven by the protostar NGC 1333 IRAS 4A was observed in the SiO 1-0 line with an angular resolution of 1.5 arcsecond. The southwestern outflow lobe was resolved not only along the flow axis but also across the flow. Lateral intensity profiles show two peaks, suggesting that the SiO emitting gas is in a tubular or cylindrical layer around the primary jet. The slope of lateral intensity profiles is steeper on the clockwise (southeastern) edge than on the other edge. Kinematically, the counterclockwise edge is bluer than the opposite edge. These differences between the opposite edges suggest that either the outflow or its environment has some degree of asymmetry. Possible explanations include slowly drifting outflow axis and rotation of outflowing gas around the flow axis.
