[185.01] H-Alpha Wide/Narrow Index Search for PMS Objects in Young Open Clusters

L. R. Evanko, B. J. Taylor, M. D. Joner (Brigham Young University)

In order to address the questions currently surronding stellar formation(such as--the initial mass funtion, formation epochs, and matching main-sequence stars with their predessors), more objects in the formation phases need to be cataloqued to guide future indepth studies. Some of these objects can be found and identified through their characteristic H-alpha emission. An H-alpha wide/narrow index has been developed for this purpose. Analysis of the techniques as well its application to several young open clusters will be presented.

Special thanks to AAS for small research grants.
