X-ray observations of the central regions of cooling core clusters have revealed a wealth of spatial detail in the thermal gas. One of the most spectacular results is the profound effect that central radio sources appear to have on the structure of the ICM. In addition to depressions associated with the active radio galaxy, there are "ghost cavities" in several clusters which are located well beyond the currently active source. These cavities appear to delineate the location of old radio lobes which continue to displace the thermal gas. The presence of numerous structures in cluster cores suggests that the central AGN may play a significant role in offsetting cooling in cluster cores.

We present details of the radio and X-ray observations of Abell 2597 which suggest several outburst episodes for the central AGN and provide the first suggestion of an X-ray tunnel which may be maintained over multiple outburst episodes. We also present our new radio observations of Abell 4059 which reveal complex source morphology extending into the southern ghost bubble.

Basic research in radio astronomy at the Naval Research Laboratory is supported by the Office of Naval Research.
