[8.07] Development and Testing of the Automatic Calibration Pipeline for the Advanced Camera for Surveys

C. M. Pavlovsky, M. J. Mutchler, W. J. Hack (STScI)

We describe the algorithms that are used in CALACS, the program that will be used to automatically calibrate science data from the Advanced Camera for Surveys on board the Hubble Space Telescope. The CCD channels will have conventional processing applied, as well as a combination of images to remove cosmic rays. The MAMA channel processing will closely parallel that applied to the equivalent channels of the Space Telescope Imaging Spectrograph. We also describe the form of data produced by the calibration process, and the procedures used to test the validity of the algorithms.
