[23.04] Goldstone Apple Valley Radio Telescope (GAVRT) Project

M. J. Klein (Jet Propulsion Laboratory)

Through a partnership involving JPL, NASA's Deep Space Network and the Lewis Center for Educational Research in Apple Valley, the Goldstone Apple Valley Radio Telescope (GAVRT) project brings hands-on scientific discovery to America's classrooms. The GAVRT project provides curriculum and specialized training for middle and high school teachers that enables students to remotely control the 34m (110-foot) GAVRT radio telescope from their classroom. Students perform radio astronomy experiments, analyze the data, and report their results to JPL.
