[7.06] Infrared Spectrum of Young Star MWC 1080

MWC 1080 is an interesting young B0 star surrounded by an edge-on disk and a close, eclipsing stellar companion with a 3 day period. We have obtained moderate resolution infrared spectra of this object with SPEX at the IRTF (0.8--5 \mum) and high-resolution (RP~25,000) spectra with NIRSPEC on the Keck II. The rich 0.8-2.3 \mum spectrum is filled with emission lines due to hydrogen recombination and several metals such as Ca II, Mg I, Fe I, etc. In addition, high-resolution spectra of the 4-5 \mum region show ro-vibrational lines of cold CO in absorption and no evidence of H3+ absorption along the line of sight. We discuss the results, in particular the implications for the location of the cold CO gas and lack of H3+.
