Deep Impact encountered comet 9P/Tempel 1 on July 4th and observed it with several instruments. In particular, we obtained infrared spectra of the nucleus with the IR spectrometer in the wavelength range 1-5 micron. From these spectrum, we derived the temperature map of the nucleus, before and after impact, with a resolution better than 100 meter per pixel at time of observation. Here we present the resulting temperature map and its implications for the surface thermal properties of the nucleus. Supported by NASA contract NASW00004 to the University of Maryland.
