[26.19] The LSST Sensor Development Program

J.G. Geary (SAO), V. Radeka (Brookhaven), LSST Camera Team

The LSST FPA will comprise an order of magnitude more pixels than any array realized so far. The principle underlying the development plan is that for an FPA involving about 200 large format sensors, an industrial approach has to be developed and adopted. Therefore, the plan the LSST proposes to follow in sensor development is to employ targeted R&D qualified vendors guided by the LSST camera team, with the goal of producing a prototype suitable for industrial production. These sensors must produce low read noise, high QE in the red and high precision flatness specifications which will all be necessary to do the science that the LSST proposes. This poster shows the LSST sensor baseline CCD and CMOS designs including operating parameters of the proposed sensors and focal plane.
