[49.04] The NASA Science Mission Directorate's advisory system and strategic planning

M.S. Allen (NASA Headquarters)

One of the strengths of NASA's science programs is their historically close engagement with the outside investigator community. This engagement derives importantly from relationships with the community via the National Research Council and NASA’s own advisory committees. As NASA focuses on implementation of the Vision for Space Exploration, a number of changes have taken place in the structure and operation of the Agency’s advisory system. This talk will describe recent developments as they relate to the Science Mission Directorate and will describe the current status and plans of Agency and Directorate strategic planning activities.
