[94.06] Time Variability of Young Stellar Objects in the Chamaeleon I Dark Cloud

N. Crockett, M. Meyer (University of Arizona), M. Robberto, S.V.W. Beckwith (Space Telescope Science Institute)

We present new UBVRI and JHKLM photometry and medium resolution optical spectra for a sample of 17 young stellar objects in the Chamaeleon I dark cloud. These data are compared to previous photometry to assess time variability in: 1) the extinction toward the source; 2) stellar luminosity; 3) mass accretion rate onto the star; and 4) the structure of the circumstellar disk inside 1 AU. We also report the identification of a new "infrared companion" system - the pre-main sequence binary SX Cha. We present resolved photometry and spectra for the system and place constraints on the evolutionary state of both components.
