Although Chandra spectra of the M87 jet have been presented previously, some questions remain. In particular, is there robust evidence for a spectral cutoff; to what accuracy can we measure the spectral change, if any, moving from a bright knot to the emission between the knots; and what is the evidence for spectral variability? Since x-ray spectra for AGN jets offer clues to particle acceleration and emission mechanisms, and since M87 is among the closest and brightest of these, we approach these questions with systematic analyses of new observations together with most of the Chandra archival data of M87. The work at SAO has been supported by NASA grant G03-4124A.
